how appearance works
four tabs, one save button, and a preview of the real page.
appearance is the biggest page in the dashboard, so it is split into four tabs. they are grouped by what you are doing rather than by how many controls each holds.
nothing saves until you press save
changes on this page are a draft. the bar at the bottom follows you down the page and tells you when there is something unsaved, so you can try ten things and keep the two you liked.
the preview button in the dashboard opens your real page in a panel on the right, not a drawing of it, so what you see is what visitors get. it works before you have published, and the load is not counted as a view.
starting over
reset to defaults, top right, puts every appearance setting back to how it shipped. it clears uploaded backgrounds and cursors too, and like everything else here it does not take effect until you save.
want to keep a version before you experiment? save it as a look first. you can switch back to it in one click.
